Wow! Did not really expect anyone out there could help. The paper was the Courier Mail. I recall the photo was headed "Dawn's Big Night'.Thank you so much for your interest. I have tried to track down a copy of this front page but no success. As I now live in the Whitsundays I cannot pop into the State Library, unfortunately.
      Kind regards
      Dawn

  3. H! I saw this in Melbourne at Festival Hall. Tab Hunter was pathetic, and almost booed off the stage. Sal Mineo was sweet and ineffectual. The Everley Brothers were good, of course. And the other Aussie acts just fine. But who the audience went wild for was Johnny O'Keefe, who came on just before interval, last of the local 'supporting' acts. They clearly knew him already, though I didn't until then. (I was in my twenties; it was the teens who knew him.) The adulation was well deserved. He was a ball of raw energy, gave it his all. Everyone was saying he should have been the headline act. He had been largely unknown until then, only just discovered by the teenagers ... but after that he was famous.
